Press release from the Brenda Hanchar Foundation:
Flavor of Fall on Thursday, November 5, 2009
The Flavor of Fall is a free admission, free food fundraising event for the Brenda Hanchar Foundation. It will be held November 4th from 4pm to 7pm at the historic Baker Street Train Station.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample local celebrity and talented chef’s Chili, Soup, Chowder or Gumbo and vote for their favorite Flavor of Fall. Each dollar counts as a vote; ie. twenty dollars counts as twenty votes, etc.
Admission is free to the cook-off. There will be door prizes, a silent auction, cash bar and live music from the University of Saint Francis Jazz Ensemble. If you are unable to attend a donation would be greatly appreciated.
The Flavor of Fall fundraising cook-off benefits the Brenda Hanchar Foundation. The Foundation is a local non-profit organization providing durable medical equipment, medical supplies, and prescription assistance to the low-income, uninsured residents of Northeast Indiana.
Chefs for the 2008 Flavor of Fall included:
Michael Packnett, President and CEO Parkview Hospital; Donna Packnett, wife of Michael Packnett; Jane Avery, Community Harvest Food Bank; Richard Stevenson, Wayne Township Trustee; Father Tom Shoemaker, Pastor St. Jude Catholic Church; John Clendenen, Leo Town Council President; The Fort Wayne Derby Girls; and Famous Ron Tipton. Also, in attendance last year was Fort Wayne’s Mayor Tom Henry to proclaim November 6th ‘Brenda Hanchar Foundation Day’.Restaurants that participated:
Sycamore Hills Country Club; Summit Club; Opus 24; Aboite Grill; Hall’s Restaurants; Bourbon Street Hideaway; Orchard Ridge Country Club; Oyster Bar; Fort Wayne Country Club, Anastasia¹s Café, and L’Asiatique.
