Press release from Habitat for Humanity:

Habitat hosts meeting to apply for a Habitat House

Are you or someone you know living in poor conditions, or are you crowded, or is the rent more than 30% of your income? Are you willing to partner and become involved with Humanity for Humanity, to help achieve your dream of home ownership? What’s involved when you partner with Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity as a potential homeowner?

Get the answers to all your questions at Habitat’s enrollment meeting on November 19, 2009. There will be two meetings held—one at noon and one at 6 p.m. Each meeting will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes, and applications for the program will be available at the meetings. These informational meetings will be held at Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity’s main office, located at 629 E. Washington Blvd (downtown on the corner of Washington and Hanna).

For more information about the meetings or about Habitat, please contact Nea Laster at 260.422.4828 or e-mail her.

About Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity
Fort Wayne Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)3 non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that uses volunteer labor to build simple, affordable homes through partnerships with low-income Allen County families. Once completed the homes are sold to the family with a $500 down payment and at no profit on a 20-year, interest-free mortgage. Because of volunteer involvement, the cost of a standard three-bedroom home is kept affordable at approximately $65,000, with the monthly mortgage payment around $350, which includes taxes and insurance. Mortgage payments are then reinvested in the community in the form of additional housing opportunities.
