City, County welcome Voices of Unity home following gold medals at World Choir Games
Public invited over lunch hour for performance at One Summit Square

(July 29, 2010) – Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and the Allen County Commissioners invite the public to welcome home the gold medal champions Voices of Unity from their victorious competition in the sixth World Choir Games in Shaoxing, China. The free event will be at noon Friday at One Summit Square at the corner of Wayne and Calhoun streets.

“Voices of Unity has brought another impressive title to our community, something that we can all rally around and celebrate,” Mayor Henry said. “I invite you to join us at One Summit Square to recognize the impressive talent of these students under the leadership of Marshall White and experience what a treasure we have.”

Joining Mayor Henry and the Commissioners will be representatives from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Visitors Bureau, the Downtown Improvement District, Arts United and Indiana-Michigan Power.

One of four choirs from the United States and the only one from Indiana, Voices of Unity earned the two gold medals in the global choral contest, including grand champion in the Gospel and Spiritual category.
