Today, in deference to the Super Bowl, the Headwaters Park Ice Rink will close at 6 pm. In addition, with tomorrow’s closure of the Fort Wayne Community Schools, the ice rink will open at noon instead of the normal 3 pm start time. The rink will remain open until 8 pm with regular admission and rental prices in effect. 
The Headwaters Park Ice Rink will welcome the Komets to the ice this afternoon from 2 to 4 pm.

Yesterday at the Headwaters Park Ice Rink, the chiller was turned on and put through it’s paces to demonstrate it’s abilities and help freeze the base of the ice rink.

Last night, the sun set on the final evening of ice skating at the Headwaters Park Ice Rink. The rink will reopen sometime during the week before Thanksgiving. The Headwaters Park Ice Rink re-opens today at noon after being closed the past few days due to the extreme cold. The Ice Rink is scheduled to remain open until 10 pm. I would caution anyone venturing out after 8 pm to call and make sure the rink will still be open when you get there. I’ll be posting about some special Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day activities later this evening. The ice rink will be open tomorrow, Sunday, from noon to 8 pm.

The Fort Wayne Komets Hockey team, 2008 Turner Cup Champions, were at the Headwaters Park Ice Rink for the annual “Skate with the Komets” day. The turnout was excellent, both from the public and players on the team. The Komets interacted with the crowd with genuine affability and ease. A good time was had by one and all!

The Headwaters Park Ice Rink is working towards opening at 4:00 pm this afternoon. The rink is scheduled to be open until 10:00 pm. Before heading out, you may wish to call before heading out to ensure the rink is open. Yesterday’s unseasonably warm weather, a high of 66 wreaked havoc on the ice. Efforts are underway to restore the ice sheet and will hopefully be completed in time to open at 4:00 pm.
